Overview
This isn’t just a trip, it’s a Himalayan saga! Picture yourself biting into hot roasted corn on Shimla’s Mall Road, chanting hymns at the thousand-year-old Tabo Monastery, sipping chai in apple orchards at Kalpa, and dropping postcards at the world’s highest post office in Hikkim. From the charm of Kinnaur’s valleys to the raw, cinematic landscapes of Spiti, every scene feels like a frame from a Bollywood classic—filled with drama, devotion, and the unshakable spirit of the mountains. This is where Indian culture, spirituality, and adventure weave into one epic travel story.
Your Himalayan film begins with a drive to Shimla, the Queen of Hills. As evening arrives, stroll along the famous Mall Road where the scent of roasted corn and the sweetness of creamy kulfi fill the crisp air. Colonial charm, buzzing shops, and mountain breezes set the perfect mood for the journey ahead.
Today’s drive winds through pine forests and charming villages until you reach Sarahan, the “Gateway to Kinnaur.” The highlight is the sacred Bhimakali Temple, an architectural marvel blending Hindu and Tibetan styles. With chants echoing against snow peaks, the scene feels truly divine.
Journey deeper into the Baspa Valley, where emerald meadows and wooden homes make the landscape look straight out of folklore. Explore Kamru Fort, whispering stories of royalty, and continue to Chitkul—the last village on the Indo-Tibet road, where time seems to stand still. The day closes with mountain sunsets painting the valley in gold.
After breakfast, drive to Kalpa, a village surrounded by apple orchards and dominated by the awe-inspiring Kinnaur Kailash range. Wander through rustic lanes, meet locals with warm smiles, and end your evening with a peaceful orchard walk, the aroma of ripe apples hanging in the cool air.
The landscape begins to transform into barren beauty as you make your way to Tabo. Visit the legendary Tabo Monastery, over a thousand years old, often called the “Ajanta of the Himalayas” for its priceless murals and scriptures. Spending a quiet moment here is like stepping back in time.
Drive towards Kaza, stopping en route at Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff with views of confluence rivers below. By evening, settle into a traditional homestay where you experience the simplicity of Spitian life—wooden kitchens, barley bread, butter tea, and warmth beyond words.
This is a day of record-breaking experiences! In Langza, stand before a giant Buddha statue with the Himalayas behind you. In Hikkim, post a letter from the world’s highest post office, a memory sealed in ink and emotion. Then reach Komic, the highest inhabited village on Earth, where the silence is as grand as the scenery.
Start with the spectacular Key Monastery, where monks in red robes chant amidst fluttering prayer flags. Later, head to Kibber, known as a high-altitude wildlife sanctuary. If luck is on your side, you might just spot the elusive snow leopard or blue sheep roaming the rugged cliffs.
The journey wraps up with a long but scenic drive back to Manali. With monasteries, mountains, and memories filling your heart, you take home a story bigger than any film—your own Himalayan blockbuster.
